The French Army

Finished up the Cuirassiers bases, completing the the last unit of troops for the French army. I still have a Prussian army to begin, but halfway is better than nothing!

In all it's glory! I'm still going to flock and dull-coat, but for the time being they will stay like this.

Cuirassiers

I'm so close to finishing up the French! I decided to paint up a base of cuirassiers this weekend so I can move on to the Prussians and finally get around to playing some games. Only 3 more stands to go!

A Quar battle

My friend and I played our first game of SoA this weekend. We just did a quick meeting engagement to run through the mechanics. We had a blast! Those Royalist Harlecs are brutal! I need to paint up some more ryflers with Rishi to help with long range fire! I'll have to make up some quar-like terrain and fill out the mini list to 2 full squads each, but I think we'll have a lot of fun out of the Quar and SoA.

More Quar

Ten of each for now. Should be able to have some good skirmishes.

Quar!

I have started working on my 15mm Quar. I've had the crusaders for quite a while now, and seeing Zombiesmith at Fall In was the last little push needed to  get going on some of these guys. The first pic is of the new Royalist ryflers that have been recently released. Looking forward to seeing some HMGs and HSGs.

Mini Mech at Fall in

A view of the city before the carnage

Close up

I'm shooting at that one!

Death and Glory!

The carnage

It was a very good gaming weekend. I was disappointed by the lack players who signed up for the game, but there were plenty of compliments about the board and the games we got in were a blast. Hopefully folks will catch on and see that it is a fun and fast little game. I'll keep running games and see what happens. I picked up a few things to start adding conventional troops to Mini Mech.

Mini Mech Hex Mat Finished

The 4 main tiles are finished. I'll draw hexes on the other 2 at a later date. The water tiles fit well. Luckily there wasn't a lot of warping. I need to mark the seams so I can put it back together. I'll be making more buildings this weekend. Hopefully the weather will let me prime them. I also want to make some more water tiles, some more railway strips and a few more bridges. I'm also going to try using sewing pins to keep the water and rail tiles from moving.

Mini Mech Hex Mat

I decided to use 4 - 2'x2' interlocking foam tiles for the game mat after seeing how easy it is for felt to move around. This should also help with any table seams. It's going well so far. I have 2 more tiles that I can eventually add on for a MEGA 4'x6' city.

Mini Mech flaming wreckage markers

Mechs do not last very long in Minimech, at least with the bold players who have helped play-test it to this point. The table is always littered with wrecks after a game. Rather than use cotton or polyfill to denote a blown-up mech, I wanted to make a bunch of flaming wreckage markers. Here is the first batch in progress. I'm going to paint the bases the street grey.

ECW - Cuirassiers!

The Lobsters are done! Now I need to get a bunch of foot regiments going. I'm also looking forward to working on some dragoon bases.

Here's an overall pic of what I have completed painting so far. I need some better lighting for bigger pics.

ECW - Commander

Commander base is done. I tried to do a head swap with the coronet. It doesn't look too bad, but getting the banner staff to look straight didn't work out quite right.

ECW Blue Foot

Another regiment of foot is ready for the field. (almost.. grass and dullcoat) I said "screw it!" and used the firing/loading poses that I had primed up for the shot. I'd prefer marching shot to go along with marching pike, but Pen doesn't have that pose, "yet." :) We'll see how the advancing musket and dragoon on foot poses look for a unit. I still have 3 more regiments like this to make, as well as some commanded shot. I only have Lobsters and Dragoons left for horse.

Mini Mech Types 2

Another faction of mechs to battle in the concrete jungle. These are Germy's 2mm sci fi walkers from GZG.

ECW - More Horse

Here is another regiment of horse! I decided to use the Lobsterhead commander and the bugler pose for the command base. Now for more foot!

ECW Progress

I've started another foot regiment, but I'm going to wait for the marching musket packs to arrive. I think marching pike should have marching shot. The next unit of horse is just about half way done, although I'm still trying to decide what to do for the command base.

More ECW

The Roundhead BG is done! The cannon are done and I don't need any more for the starter army list. Regiment of foot #2 is next.

Pike

Finally managed to get some paint on these minis. I'm pretty happy with them, considering how fast I went.

Historicon 2012 - Minimech

Here are some pics of another round of play testing for Minimech. Overall, it went well, with only a few glitches in initiative mechanics and LOS. I'll be fixing those shortly. Everyone seemed to enjoy playing.

Minimech test

I'd like to add conventional troops to the mix at some point and when I ran across a half-forgotten pack of GZG's NSL Powered Armor Infantry, I figured I'd give it a try and see how it works. Here's a size comparison shot.

More Minimech!

Had another chance to play-test the Minimech rules over the weekend. Got really good feedback and made some changes to the rules that will make it more fun. Some more play-testing and a friendly game at H-con and this thing should be ready to run at Fall in.
