New Mini Mech v1.3 Rules

The Mini Mech rules have been updated!

These changes have been in the pipeline, following feedback and play-testing. I don't feel the game has changed at all really, just streamlined a few things that weren't necessary and adjusted the physical combat to play a larger role in the game. It's still the fast and explode-y game it's always been!

15mm Mercs

Here's the first group of  skirmishers to be finished up. I've been planning on doing a Necromunda/Star Wars/Firefly influenced skirmish game for some time now. Check out Scott Pyle's Four Color Figure Blog for the stuff that inspired me. Still plenty more to paint, along with some new Law Officers from 15mm.co.uk for a little Dredd flavor as well. For rules, I've originally planned on USE ME, but after playing some Quar, I may go with Flying Lead. I also want to see how Blasters & Bulkheads works for a campaign game. There are also some new Dredd rules from Mongoose, along with stats for judges in Rogue Trooper. Plenty of choices!

New basing for my 6mm Sci Fi

Baccus Command Horizon human infantry and support weapons and light APCs

GZG NAC infantry, SJ Games Ogre light and heavy tanks, and some GZG Tortoise walkers

It's been a slow start to the year post-wise, but I've been working hard to re-base my old Command Horizon troops to something more usable with current 6mm sci fi rules. I'm definitely planning on playing some FWC with these factions, and hopefully try out some NetEpic as well. Adding conventional forces to Mini Mech is also on the list, and these troops will work fine for testing.

Most of the infantry has been re-based, with the exception of command bases for the green faction. I'm slowly getting the tanks re-based, trying to get core armies completed, before my ADD points me towards some other project.

This project has also revealed to me the shoebox full of bare metal 6mm sci fi still waiting to be based and painted. I'm gonna need a bigger boat.

Mini Mech - testing

I've been making up these hex fillers for the building bases. A number of play-testers have mentioned that the original layout was confusing, and I can understand it. LOS through the partial hexes could be confusing, not to mention movement. This will probably spread out the buildings more and quite possibly require that I make 2 more hex tiles. I'm looking forward to seeing how MM plays with these changes.

I'm also working on changing the initiative as it is now and add alternating activation for each player.

Mini Mech at Muster 2013

Had a great time running Mini Mech at Muster this past weekend. It is a really nice venue and the people are friendly. I look forward to coming back and running more games.

Here's a nice AAR from Walt, who played Mini Mech: Williamsburg Muster 2013
